About
My name is Freya Horsey, I have been tuning and repairing pianos for over 15 years. Piano tuning is a family trade, and I learned the craft from my father (Ross Horsey), working as his apprentice for three years. I completed a degree in Popular Music at Leeds Conservatoire in 2008.
For the last five years, I have divided my time between tuning acoustic pianos privately and working for Rhodes, restoring and setting up their iconic electro-mechanical pianos. In my role at Rhodes, alongside building, tuning, and voicing instruments, I also supervise the production team and oversee quality control across the business.
Training under my father was an invaluable experience. It gave me hands-on exposure to a wide variety of pianos, along with expert guidance from a skilled and passionate tuner. It also helped me understand why he loved the craft so deeply — and I’m proud that it has become my passion too.
